Miscellaneous, 1918-1920 and undated

 Sub-Series

Contains a notebook of entries revealing Brian Barnes's communications, what he called "spiritual wireless," from spirits of the dead. One letter to the Editor of the Progressive Thinker (1 Sept. 1920) outlines Barnes's beliefs regarding these communications and reveals that his mother and his wife served as mediums. The messages all seem to be from two individuals. Lord Kitchener "sent [messages] through to help the Allies" during World War I and later gave warnings about "the present Bolsheviki trouble." Barnes also claimed to receive messages from John Redmond "pertaining to Ireland and to Bolshevism." Apparently the World and the Progressive Thinker published some of these communications.

There are also two poems, formerly in Brian Barnes's literary works: a photocopy of a typed untitled poem marked "for Fanny" and a half sheet of music entitled "Off She Goes." Neither was created by Brian Barnes.
