This subseries contains formal and informal invitations to various political events and social gatherings including : "Golden Jubilee of the National Society of [the] Daughters of the American Revolution" (1940); "Bundles for Britain, Inc. Luncheon in Honor of Mrs. Edward R. Murrow" (1941); from President and Mrs. Truman (1946); "Memorial Meeting to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the India League of America" (1948); a speech by Eleanor Roosevelt (1950); a Memorial Dinner for Alfred E. Smith (1950); the Inaugural and Inaugural Ball of 1953; Tribute to Marguerite Higgins (1956); Silver Anniversary of the Waldorf-Astoria (1956); the Inaugural and Inaugural Ball of 1957; the opening of the Pittsburg Hilton (1959); Radio and TV Correspondence Dinner (1958); the Inaugural and Inaugural Ball of 1961 and a Reception for Distinguished Ladies by the Official Hospitality Committee of 1961, and White House dinners.
