This series documents NFCB's Program Service, which administered the exchange of original, independently-produced content among community radio stations. Part of the original mission of NFCB, the purpose of the Program Service was to establish connections among community radio stations across the country and distribute community radio programs through a national cooperative of producers and stations. Administration of the Program Service was transferred to the Pacifica Radio Archives around 1986.

Catalogs in this series provide subject, producer, and genre indices to the audio reels in series 8, and contain descriptions of the programs contained in the audio reels. Reels are identified by their titles and NFCB reel numbers, which have also been retained on the reels themselves. A scanned version of a catalog covering the pre-NFCB years through 1979 is available as as part of this finding aid in the additional information section (National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) Program Service Catalog, pre-NFCB-1979). This series also contains a bound volume listing NFCB programs 4079-6085, sorted by program title, producer, and archival number, found in Box 22.

In addition to program catalogs, this series contains newsletters, sales records for a book on program resources, and program submission and release forms. Audio cassettes in this series include community radio programs nominated for or awarded the "Golden Reel," an award given by NFCB in recognition of independent radio programs and the people who create them. Paper records are aranged chronologically; cassettes are arranged alphabetically by program title.
