Writings Related to Katherine Anne Porter, 1948-1992 and undated

This series contains notes and research materials, drafts of published and unpublished works, and a setting copy of a manuscript. The largest body of materials consists of research materials and drafts of Letters of Katherine Anne Porter, published in 1990. "Porter, Katherine Anne, Marginalia," a project Bayley began in 1953 on the marginalia in Porter's personal library, was never completed despite sporadic efforts. This portion of the series consists of research materials, notes, and photocopies of Porter's marginalia, arranged alphabetically by author, person, title, or subject. "Porter, Katherine Anne, Notes" includes photocopies of Porter's writings and correspondence from the papers of Katherine Anne Porter. The series also contains notes from the summer 1948 Kansas University seminar, in which Bayley participated and where her relationship with Porter began. Bayley's notes for presentations at conferences commemorating Porter also are included in this series as are are several documents concerning a centennial celebration at the University of Georgia (1990), several drafts of Isabel Bayley's memoir titled "Porpoises and Parentheses: Memoir of Katherine Anne Porter," and manuscripts and notes for Isabel Bayley's "Talking Partners" manuscript, an introduction to the correspondence between Porter and Bayley.
