Photographs, circa 1900-1970
Series 9 consists of Agricultural Experiment Station photographs of its buildings, farms, work projects, machinery, and farm products. Photographs of farm products, such as tobacco, maple syrup, corn, wheat, livestock, alfalfa, soybeans, vegetables, fruit, and potatoes are included along with those of farm processing procedures such as apple picking and hog butchering. Tobacco growing and processing are documented in all of their phases, including the buildings housing various phases of production. State and county fairs throughout the state are also depicted along with extension activities in rural Maryland. An aerial view of the Hopkins Farm and the Tobacco Farm from the 1970s are included as well. Most of these photographs have not been described at the item level. Those which have ben individually described depict Agricultural Experiment Station livestock shows, spraying activities, farm fields and buildings, and station awards and ceremonies.
All photographs have been transferred to the Photographic Collection.
