This subseries documents Agnew's two campaigns for the vice presidency. Included are correspondence; briefing materials; speeches, public statements, and press releases; research files; Republican National Committee reports; transcripts of press conferences; and campaign trip files. The subseries contains coverage of such topics as local campaign efforts, contributions and spending, staff, conventions, volunteers, platforms, campaign strategy, and trip planning. Campaign issues addressed include the Vietnam War, Watergate, campus unrest, liberals, and foreign policy. There are also extensive files on individual Democratic and Republican candidates, particularly George McGovern, Edmund Muskie, Thomas Eagleton, John Lindsey, "Pete" McCloskey, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan.
The materials in this subseries have been divided first by campaign, 1968 and 1972, then arranged by document type.
