Personal Correspondence, 1918-1919, 1946, 1961

 Series 2

This series contains one folder of letters and postcards, six of which are from Milton Ellsworth Poole to Theodore Bissell, and one copy of a letter from Bissell to Isabella M. Hayes of the University of Maryland, dated December 30, 1961. Milton Ellsworth Poole was a classmate of Bissell's during their freshman year at the Maryland State College of Agriculture. Poole left after the first year and served overseas during World War I. His correspondence discusses his wartime experiences overseas, particularly in France, his decision not to return to school after the war, and former classmates at the Maryland State College of Agriculture. There is one letter from Poole to Bissell dated 1946 reminiscing about their lives. The letter written by Bissell to Mrs. Hayes briefly discusses the relationship between the two men and provides a short biographical sketch of Mr. Poole. The series is arranged chronologically.
