County Subject Files, 1944-1988
This series consists primarily of published brochures, flyers, maps, and guides collected by Holland on her frequent automobile excursions with her husband and newspaper clippings from the Baltimore Sun, the Howard County News, the Washington Post, and other regional papers. For most counties, the subject matter relates to historic sites, general histories, and travel. The Howard County files are much more extensive and include many clippings concerning current topics, including politics, elections, zoning, local business, and the growth of Columbia. Road maps with no historical commentary and duplicate brochures were removed to the map collection or vertical file of the Marylandia and Rare Books Department.
The material is divided by county, then arranged alphabetically.
