Correspondence, 1918-1970 and undated
This series contains letters written and received by Ernest Hemingway. It also includes correspondence relating to him written by Carlos Baker, Oscar Collier, Patsy English, Ralph Graves, Will Lang, William C. Pank, Susan Richman, Edward K. Thompson, and two of his wives (Pauline Pfeiffer and Mary Welsh). All letters written by Hemingway are original with the exception of two letters to Mr. Longwell and one letter to Bill Lang, which are carbon copies. The two largest groupings of correspondence include those exchanged between Hemingway and Arthur Mizener (with Hemingway's opinion of F. Scott Fitzgerald) and Hemingway's letters to editor Edward O'Brien, in which he discusses his stories. The series is arranged alphabetically by author; Hemingway's correspondence is further arranged alphabetically by recipient's name. There is an appendix of the individual letters.
