Publications, Posters, and Scrapbooks, 1936-1972 and undated

Series 8 brings together the majority of the printed materials found in the archives of the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America. Included in this series are IUMSWA official organs, company organs, other labor-related publications, labor and political posters, and one scrapbook concerning a special project of the IUMSWA; these materials have been divided into five subseries. Printed materials of various sorts appear elsewhere in the archives, e.g. locals' contracts appear in Series 5, newspaper clippings may be found almost anywhere throughout the collection, and legal decisions are included in case files from the National Labor Relations and National War Labor boards. But this series is comprised of the highest concentration of such printed materials.
