Reading File, 1847-1976 and undated
The Reading File consists of historical materials on early childhood education and includes pamphlets, brochures, and magazines dating back to 1847. Most of the material comes from the years 1890 to 1950 and covers topics such as early curriculum, teacher education, the history of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten education, and the development of pre-school education in countries other than the United States. These materials are arranged in subject groupings established by the staff of the Association for Childhood Education International.
In addition several topics (such as Children and the War Effort, Curriculum, and Music) were added on the end for the additional materials that did not fit into the established topics.
