The series consists of correspondence to and from constituents, reports, and newspaper clippings documenting Brewster's term in the U. S. Senate. A wide variety of subjects are represented in the files, such as agriculture; armed services; civil rights; commerce; foreign relations; housing; the judiciary; labor; taxes; trade; and Vietnam. Also covered are home rule; public works; riots; and strikes. Prominent correspondents represented in the files include Spiro T. Agnew; William Proxmire; Stuart Udall; Robert and Edward Kennedy; Birch Bayh; Charles Percy; Leverette Saltonstall; Margaret Chase Smith; Stuart Symington; and Walter Mondale.
