Correspondence, 1959-1972
This series consists of carbon copies of responses to letters prepared by Brewster and his staff; the original copies of these letters appear in Series I, filed under the topics which they concern. These materials almost exclusively cover Brewster's term in the U. S. House of Representatives and Senate; only a few items post-date this period. Among the topics discussed in the letters are various federal programs such as Social Security and Medicare;... civil rights; education; prayer in schools; the postal service; Vietnam; gun legislation; railroads and transportation issues; immigration; and tariffs. Also covered are government and military spending; agriculture; labor and veterans issues; medical care; arms control; voting rights; and federal aid. The files have been arranged alphabetically by correspondent, then chronologically.
