Political, 1910-1969
Series 2 contains materials related to Byrd's involvement in politics. The two subseries which comprise this series cover Byrd's political campaigns and his involvement in state commissions dealing with the Chesapeake Bay. Because Byrd collected items which pre-date his retirement from the University of Maryland, materials in this series date from 1910 to 1969, but the bulk comes from 1954 and the 1960s. The clippings in Series 4 also contain extensive coverage of Byrd's commission work and campaigns.
