State, 1920-1971

This series contains correspondence, reports, memoranda, printed material, minutes, speeches, newsletters, press releases, and newspaper clippings related to the activities of the League of Women Voters of Maryland. The bulk of the material covers the years 1940 to 1968.

Much of the material covers the administrative concerns of the state organization and its ties to the national umbrella group and the local Leagues of the state. Major subject areas include legislation, elections, taxes, education, efficiency in government, foreign policy, local government, legal status of women, and urban affairs. Further, the files reflect the League's interest in social concerns including child welfare, relief and public welfare, social security, and civil rights. The convention files cover both national and state conventions.
