International Organization for Standardization, 1953-1985 and undated

The records in this series consist of the files of standards committees; drafts of standards; published international standards; correspondence; newsletters; reports of ISO plenary working groups and subcommittees within ISO Technical Committee 46 on Documentation (ISO TC 46). NISO comments and votes on drafts of international standrds through ANSI, which is the official U.S. member of ISO. NISO also serves as ANSI's expert advisory group for international standards that pertain to the concerns of libraries, documentaion and information centers, indexing and abstracting services, and the publishing industry. Many current ISO standards in these areas are based on NISO standards.
