Legal Documents, 1745-1775, 1800-1827, 1840, 1897, 1930, and undated
Most of the indentures and land records in the collection relate to the Mason family, occurring during the 18th century and early 19th century when the Clapham relatives of Elizabeth Clapham Price Mason were landowners in Virginia.
The Mason-Swann families' connection continued into the 20th century. Thompson [sic] F. Mason (1868-1946) of Loudon County, VA, borrowed money from his nephew, Thomas Swann (1889-1961) of Baltimore, MD. In repayment, Mason sold Swann furniture from his home, "Chestnut Hill", for $5.00 in 1930.
Arrangement is alphabetical by topic and within each topic by last name, with two items housed separately in an oversized box.
