U. S. Senate, 1964-1977

 Series 6

This series, arranged alphabetically by document type, includes committee hearings; floor debates; legislation; newsletters; press releases; robo drafts; schedules; speeches; statements; testimony; voting records; and writings. Some of the topics covered are gun control, crime control, population control, judicial reform, and environmental conditions. There is also a small amount of material on the Vietnam War and student protesters, including a petition from Baltimore residents protesting the war in Vietnam. More material on several of these topics can be found in Series VIII: Issue File. Also of interest is a schedule for Mrs. Tydings during October of 1970 within Tydings' own schedules and the results of the official investigation into the allegations made by Life magazine. Three of the document types in this series are similar: speeches; statements; and Congressional Record inserts. The statements differ from the speeches in that the former were made inside the Senate while the latter were made outside the Senate. The Congressional Record inserts were merged with the statements.
