Personal Writings, 1929-1950 and undated

This subseries contains Millard Tydings' more personal, literary attempts at writing for the public. The documents include notes and scenarios for stories, the manuscript of a play, the manuscript of his World War I experiences (which he published as Machine Gunners of the Blue and Gray Division in 1923), various stories, poems, and papers. Correspondence concerning the publication of some his work is also located here. Correspondents include Howard S. Cullman and Walter Huston.

Numerous political pieces were published during his years in the Senate. Some of the articles are included in Series VII. He addressed the failure of Prohibition and the causes of the Depression in two book-length works, Before and After Prohibition (1930) andCounter-Attack (1933). Arrangement is alphabetical by title and/or document type.
