The Battle of Midway: "Miracle at Midway", 1942-1977 and undated
Series 7 contains notes, interviews, and correspondence related to Prange's research on the World War II Battle of Midway (June 4-7, 1942), as well as facsimilies of battle reports and ships' logs from units involved in the battle. The materials in this series were created or compiled by Prange while he was working on a Reader's Digest article commemorating the 30th anniversary of the battle. Many of the interviews in this series were conducted by one of Prange's graduate student research assistants, Robert Barde, who was writing a dissertation about the Battle of Midway. These interviews are indicated in the finding aid by the "(Robert Barde)" tag at the end of the folder title. Much of this material was published posthumously by Donald M. Goldstein and Katherine V. Dillon in 1982 under the title Miracle at Midway. This series is arranged in alphabetical order by topic; photographs related to the Battle of Midway and Prange's research are located in series 9.
