Correspondence and Papers (By Author), 1959-2001

Series II consists of Stephen G. Brush's correspondence with colleagues, students, members of the University of Maryland faculty, and other educational institutions. In some cases, the folder heading indicates a scientist whose papers or correspondence Dr. Brush was trying to locate, not the individual who is the correspondent, for example, the folder labeled "Barus, Carl" contains letters to and from David J. Martz, Jr., about Barus' papers and correspondence. In these cases, the folder heading usually is enclosed in brackets.

In addition to correspondence, the series includes drafts and revisions of research work by Dr. Brush and his correspondents, often with comments; published papers of the correspondents; and letters of recommendation/referee reviews of papers. Some of these materials have been restricted. Photographs have been moved to Series VII, and are identified in this series by separation sheets.

Significant correspondents include Mara Beller, Hugh E. DeWitt, Gerald Holton, Dirk ter Haar, Hans Kangro, Thomas S. Kuhn, Larry and Rachel Laudan, Wilfried Schröder, Michael M. Sokal, Frank J. Tipler, and Clifford A. Truesdell.

Arrangement is alphabetical by correspondent name.
