SoHo, 1960-2005

 Series 2

The subject focus of this series is the geographic area most fully represented in Gayle's Papers: the lower Manhattan neighborhood known as SoHo, roughly bounded by Houston Street to the north, Canal Street to the south, Lafayette Street to the east, and West Broadway to the west. The materials in this series include individual research files for many addresses in the SoHo area, documents and correspondence pertaining to the area's transformation into a historic district, newspaper clippings, photographs and slides, a stereocard, and some blueprints. Some materials represented in this series were used in the creation of A Walking Tour of Cast-Iron Architecture in SoHo, a brochure co-written by Gayle and Robin Lynn in 1983.
