W.P.C. Thomas, 1864
This series consists of two letters. One is written to W.P.C Thomas, a Confederate soldier in Company E of the 18th Virginia Regiment from his sister Emma, and the other is written by W.P.C. Thomas and addressed back to his sister. Thomas had been taken prisoner on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg and was held at Point Lookout. He died there of disease in September 1864. The letters discuss Emma’s life and goings-on at home, and Thomas’s illness and condition at Point Lookout. Materials are arranged in chronological order.
