N.K. Tracy, 1864
This series consists of two letters written by Confederate soldier Nathan K. Tracy to his brother, Hazen, who was a Unionist living in Vermont. Tracy was a soldier in the 8th Louisiana Infantry, and was taken prisoner in “the Valley of Virginia” on June 27th, 1862. He was held in Washington, D.C. before being transferred to Point Lookout at an unknown date. The letters discuss life as a prisoner in camp, personal matters, and Tracy’s request for his brother to send him more money. Materials are arranged in chronological order.
