Programs, reports, histories of churches and synods, publications, financial records, constitutions, bylaws, proceedings of conventions, catechism, pastoral letters, dedicatory services, and addresses to congregations and Sunday Schools relating to various churches, denominations, and other religious organizations within the state of Maryland. Among the topics covered are annual meetings and conferences; church anniversaries and other celebrations; lotteries; religion in colonial Maryland; ministers; various denominations such as the Society of Friends, Lutheran Synod, and the Methodist Episcopal Church; charitable and other religious organizations such as All Saints Sisters of the Poor, the Maryland State Bible Society, and the Immaculate Conception Beneficial Society; Sunday Schools; and religious issues such as gambling, amusements, and the closure of theaters on the Sabbath. Significant figures represented in the collection include James Cardinal Gibbons and Bishop Martin J. Spalding.
