Biographical Files, 1877-1997

Series 6 is comprised of biographical information on important union and non-union persons, including Samuel Gompers. It includes correspondence, copies of speeches, obituaries, magazine articles and mailings to union members. The records also contain materials related to the organization of testimonial dinners for important union officers, including Patrick Campbell, Maurice A. Hutcheson, William L. Hutcheson, William Konyha, Charles Nichols, Anthony Ochocki, James T. Patterson, William Sidell and Peter Terzick. The series includes one roll of microfilm: the AFL Records -- The Samuel Gompers Era, 1877-1937 -- Early AFL Records and the Gabriel Edmonston Papers. Folders are arranged alphabetically by last name. When an individual is represented by more than one folder, the folders were arranged alphabetically and then chronologically.
