Carpenters' Home, 1904-1984

 Series 7

The Carpenters' Home was also known as the Home for Aged Members and was managed by Assistant to the General President C.M. Goddard for many years. This series includes correspondence and regulations regarding pensions and upkeep and disposal of Carpenters' Home property. It also includes monthly expense reports for the Home and minutes of meetings of the Home's governing body, the Board of Trustees. It details various business activities occurring on UBC-owned land near Carpenters' Home, including citrus groves. The files include the ballots local unions used in the referendum on whether to close the home in 1972 and information about the sale of the property. These files include some information about retired Carpenters who resided at the home, including letters from their relatives to Goddard, and thus are good sources of genealogical information.
