The Maryland Library Association is a state chapter of the American Library Association (ALA), which requires regular communication and awareness of the ALA activities. As a state chapter, the MLA is not only a geographic representation of the ALA, but also promotes and participates in joint and general programs and projects. The ALA Chapter Councilor of the MLA is liaison to the national organization and serves as a member of the MLA Executive Board. The files of this series include correspondence, publications, records of the ALA Chapter Councilor, and other materials relating to the American Library Association and the relationship between the two organizations. Arrangement is alphabetical by subject.
