WPA Administrative Records, 1935-1943
This series contains administrative documents produced at both the federal and state levels that either provide basic information or establish policies and operating procedures. Federal records appear first in the series and are arranged alphabetically by office of creation. State records follow and are arranged alphabetically by document type or office of creation. Federal records consist of commissioner's letters to state administrators, single publications of three divisions -- Community Services, Information, and Social Research -- and a variety of information and instruction sheets, memoranda, letters, and brochures issued by the director's office of the Federal Writers' Project for state administrators of that project. Following the federal records are documents produced by the Maryland state division of the WPA. These include administrative orders, bulletins, and salary schedules, as well as administrative records of the Maryland Federal Writers' Project. Writers' Project records contain correspondence, financial records, instructions received by the state director, and a key to decimal codes assigned to subject files.
