Research Materials, 1972-1997
This series consists of the wide variety of materials Herring collected and used to study the life and work of Djuna Barnes. The bulk of the materials are photocopies of Barnes' correspondence, criticism, poetry, and prose. Of note are the three large, bound notebooks with handwritten notes Herring took in the Special Collections Reading Room at the University of Maryland Libraries. Much of the material exists as photocopies.
