Writings, 1925-1959
This series includes manuscripts poems, an essay on Sherwood Anderson, an uncorrected proof, and clippings from literary journals. A version of one of the manuscript poems in the collection, “Leaving Her,” also appears in Helen, A Courtship, a handmade book of poems Faulkner gave to Helen Baird in 1926. An excerpt from the other manuscript poem in the collection, “November 11,” appears in the epigraph to Faulkner’s first novel, Soldier’s Pay, published in 1926.
Materials in this series are arranged roughly in chronological order.
