Directors' Files, 1955-1973

Series 1 contains records that appear to have been kept by successive directors of the department, particularly William Kircher, John Livingston, and William Schnitzler. The series documents interactions between headquarters and regional offices and between the department and the executive council. There is extensive material on organizing campaigns at General Electric (1967-1973) and R.R. Donnelly companies (1967-1971), two corporations that dominated their respective industries. To a lesser degree the Farah, California grape growers, and textile industry campaigns are also documented.
