Letters in this series mainly reflect the routine communication between Meany and the officers of state labor organizations, including invitations to speak at state conventions or communications concerning local conditions that would be of concern to the federation. More specific topics that appear include labor unity, relations between state federation of labor or state industrial councils or national unions. Four folders relating to Canadian affairs and the Trades and Labor Congress of Canada appear in Box 18 followed by material concerning state federation legislative conferences and Stanton Smith, AFL-CIO coordinator of state and local central bodies.
