Series 11 consists of reference, background and other material pertaining to a range of AFL and AFL-CIO interests. This material includes letters, memoranda, documents, and printed matter on such topics as: the merger of the AFL and the CIO; Moral Rearmament, a controversial organization seeking influence in the world labor movement; Meany's term as a member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations. Also included are memos and reports from various staff members dealing with specific issues; e.g. Boris Shishkin on economic matters, Nelson Cruikshank on social security, and Charles C. Webber on religious matters.
