Other Committees, 1963-1979

Sub-series 2 contains files having to do with all other committees, including the Campaign Policy Committee for the 1968 elections, a foreign trade committee, and a defense committee. The Campaign Policy Committee documents reflect the AFL-CIO's view of the 1968 election as a particularly crucial election. These papers also document the AFL-CIO's views on such key issues as the war in Vietnam, the anti-war movement, the urban crisis, and labor-management relations. Executive Council files for the period 1956-1979, account for the bulk of the sub-series and contain agendas and reports from Executive Council meetings and transcripts of press conferences given by Presidnet Meany.
