Awards and Professional Activities, 1940-1976 and undated

This series consists of materials relating to Porter's awards, honorary degrees, lecture tours, college and university teaching, and activities with the Yaddo Board of Directors. Awards include the certificates for the Brandeis University Creative Arts Awards, the National Book Award, and the Pulitzer Prize. Several of the awards and honorary degrees are framed and on permanent display in the Katherine Anne Porter Room. Materials from the National Institute of Arts and Letters include the text of the speech Glenway Wescott gave when Porter was formally inducted as an Institute member. Porter's teaching materials include exams, student papers and registration cards, and syllabi from Stanford University, the University of Michigan, Washington and Lee University, and the University of Virginia and includes students' answers to exam questions or classroom exercises. Yaddo Board of Directors' materials include minutes of board meetings andannual reports of the Corporation of Yaddo.
