Derivative Works, 1952-1977 and undated
This subseries contains correspondence relating to plays, screenplays, movies, and other artistic creations inspired by Porter's Ship of Fools, "María Concepción," "Noon Wine," and "Pale Horse, Pale Ride."
Most notable is correspondence with Stanley Kramer, director of the 1967 motion picture Ship of Fools, and Bradley Philips, who directed the play Pale Horse, Pale Rider at the Jan Hus auditorium in 1958 in New York City. There are many years of correspondence with Edna Edison, who was interested in writing a play adapted from "Noon Wine."
Materials are arranged alphabetically by correspondent.
Manuscripts of many of these works are located in Series IX: Manuscripts of Other Individuals; print materials, including movie and theatre posters and programs, are located in Series VII: Printed Matter; newspaper clippings about these works, including reviews, are located in Series VI: Clippings.
