General Correspondence, 1920-1979 and undated

This subseries includes all types of correspondence not otherwise usefully categorized by name or subject: fan letters, requests for review of and assistance with manuscripts, notes from her housekeepers and neighbors, greeting cards without identification, and other materials for which the correspondent could not be identified. The group spans the dates 1920 to 1979, with bulk dates at about 1950 to 1970. The last folder contains fragments of correspondence, most of which appear to be written before the 1960s, that could not be matched with the remainder of the letters. Materials are arranged chronologically, with undated materials and fragments at the end of that sequence.
