Trade Unions, 1946-1980
This series reflects a number of international unions' positions on civil rights. It documents efforts to address allegations of discrimination by workers against their employers or their unions and by citizens against unions or union workers. It also contains correspondence and minutes of meetings between international unions and the AFL-CIO on civil rights, as well as records pertaining to strikes and other union actions based in part on civil rights issues. A very small portion of the series is comprised of discrimination case files that should have been processed as part of the AFL, CIO, and AFL-CIO Civil Rights Department, Discrimination Case Files. It contains printed, near print, and manuscript materials (correspondence, statements, news clippings, agendas, resolutions, press releases, articles, reports, court papers, and minutes).
