National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 1956-1999
This series documents the interaction between the Civil Rights Department (and William Pollard in particular) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on civil rights issues. William Pollard was on the Board of Directors and served on the Committee on Branches and Youth Work, the Life Membership Committee, the National Steering Committee, the Ad Hoc Labor Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the Time and Place Committee (chair); Richard Womack also served on the Board of Directors.
This series contains printed, near print, and manuscript material (correspondence, notes, conference materials, clippings, press releases, reports; agendas, minutes, speeches, and resolutions). There appears to be a gap in coverage during the 1980s.

Arrangement
The series is arranged alphabetically and then chronologically (researchers should note that names of people are alphabetized by first name, not last). Contents of folders have little or no discernable order. Folders labeled "Annual Convention" also contain Time and Place Committee meetings; most other meetings held at annual conventions have been removed to their own folders by committee name.
Processing Information
The series was weeded of duplicate material and some printed material, as well as material available elsewhere. Disintegrating newsprint was discarded and rusting paperclips and rubber bands were replaced with plastic clips or staples. Photographs have been removed and integrated into the Photograph series.
