A. Philip Randolph Institute, 1963-1980
Records in this series reflect the A. Philip Randolph Institute's (APRI) collaboration with the Civil Rights Department and other labor organizations to promote civil rights locally, regionally, and nationally. APRI was founded in 1965 as an official AFL-CIO Constituency Group.
The series contains printed, near print, and manuscript material (minutes, memoranda, correspondence, notes, publications, conference material, speeches, pamphlets, and clippings).

Folders are arranged alphabetically and then chronologically; contents of folders vary in arrangement (reverse chronological, chronological, or unordered).
Processing Information
This series was minimally processed and little to no attempt was made to correct the order of documents within folders. Disintegrating newsprint was discarded; obvious duplicates were discarded; rusting paperclips and rubber bands were replaced with plastic clips or staples. Where possible, documents with personal information (e.g., social security numbers, birthdates, and addresses) have been removed. Photographs have been removed and integrated into the Photograph series.
