Legal, Business, and Political Affairs, 1549-1830

This series consists of original business and legal correspondence, legal documents, a judicial commission, official notices, a military receipt, a patent drawing and charts of the chamber of deputies including the names of the marquis de Lafayette and George Washington Lafayette. Arrangement is alphabetical by correspondent or subject and then chronological. Individuals whose identities could not be determined are described as "unknown." When it has been possible to determine the relationship of an individual to the marquis de Lafayette, it is noted in parentheses following the individual's name. Transcriptions and facsimiles are noted.
