Designing the User Interface, 1985-2004 and undated
Series VIII consists of chapter drafts, illustration proposals, correspondence regarding publishing, peer reviews, press releases, permission requests, and lectures relating to the first, second and third editions of Dr. Schneiderman's book, Designing the User Interface: Strategies for Effective Human-Computer Interaction. The book was the first of its kind aimed at professionals, but not programmers. It covered internationalization, users with disabilities, interaction styles, design considerations and methods to develop and assess interfaces. In this book, Dr. Shneiderman also provided new or expanded coverage of virtual/artificial reality, graphical user interfaces, user interface management systems, computer supported cooperative work, natural language, window mangement, multimedia and hypertext, and dynamic data visualization. Finally the book provides a discussion of social and individual impact of user interface design.
Some of the materials refer to this book by a pre-publication title of User Science: The Study of Human-Computer Interaction. Arrangement is in order as received from Ben Shneiderman.
