Central Javanese Gamelan, excerpt from a wayang kulit shadow play, undated. The interjections of the dhalang (puppeteer/narrator) can be heard, and the puppets' voices take over near the end of the recording. The dhalang can also be heard making percussive sounds with a wooden mallet and the hanging metal plates he shakes with his foot, which sound like rattling chains.
