Djuna: The Formidable Miss Barnes, circa 1979-1982

This series contains autograph and typewritten drafts of Djuna: The Formidable Miss Barnes written by Andrew Field, excerpts from the book printed in various publications, and notes regarding permissions for its publication. Included is an early mockup of a heavily illustrated version of the manuscript that was later abandoned. Two bound copies of a corrected typewritten draft contain marginalia and notes for revision. Also included are revisions for the University of Texas paperback edition made in 1985. The bound manuscript with proof cover contains the handwritten additions written upon Djuna Barnes's death, just prior to publication. Notes regarding permissions for publication of intellectual property are also included here, while letters of permission are included in Series II, Correspondence. The items in this series are arranged chronologically in the order of their production.
