Research on Djuna Barnes and Her Circle, bulk: 1986-1992, 1924-1992

Series 4.1: Research on Djuna Barnes and Her Circle consists of materials related to an unfinished book on Djuna Barnes that McCullough developed with scholar Mary Lynn Broe. This subseries includes notes and photocopies of published and unpublished materials related to Barnes’ life and work, her correspondence with other writers and artists, and the disposition of her estate. In her research, McCullough sometimes copied portions of Barnes’ correspondence by hand into her notes, and those notes are included here. McCullough's drafts of chapters for the book are in Series 3: Writings. Materials are arranged by subject, then material type.

This series also includes items McCullough received from Barnes, including Barnes’ address books, manuscript drafts and fragments, her passport, and certificate of cremation.

Series 9: Djuna Barnes Memorabilia contains related items, including Barnes' suitcase and the temporary urn that held her cremains prior to their scattering on Storm King Mountain.
