Financial and Legal Documents, 1652-1919
This series consists of financial and legal documents, most of which relate to the Calvert County, Maryland property called Buzzard Island, which was owned by several individuals:
William Stone, an early Proprietary Governor of Maryland
Leonard Holliday and family
Richard and Thomas Harwood and families
James S. Morsell
The series contains documents related to the property during the period 1652-1821 and other financial transactions between these gentlemen and others, including Aquila Beall (c.1774-1840), Walter Brook Cox (dates unknown), Benjamin Mackall (1745-1807), Benjamin Mullikin (1731-1842).
The series also contains unrelated documents dealing with transactions in Frederick County, MD, Frederick County, VA, Martinsburg, WV and Baltimore, MD.
Arrangement is topical and within each folder chronological.
