General Correspondence, 1963-1996
This subseries consists of general correspondence received by Mr. Agnew, as well as copies of letters authored by Agnew personally, by his assistant Walter Warner, or by his secretaries Mary Ellen Warner and Stephanie K. Berry. Under the filing system they employed, this correspondence is mostly grouped alphabetically within two sets: Post-Resignation Correspondence, which consists primarily of well wishes from Agnew supporters in the years after his resignation, and Inactive Correspondence, which is correspondence that did not merit any further response. Other mailings appear to have been haphazardly grouped in folders with miscellaneous or non-descriptive headings. These items have not been reorganized. Materials include hand and type-written letters, carbon copies, postcards, Telex and telegrams, and greeting cards, as well as related enclosures such as news clippings, photographs, resumes, investment opportunities, and other ephemera. All folders are arranged alphabetically.
