This series consists of 1,199 slides depicting various scenes of Japan in the period immediately following World War II (1946-1951), including baseball, ceremonial dress, country scenes, Nikko, buildings, military figures, and military maps of Korea.

The slides in this series were donated to the University of Maryland by Polly Prange in 2018.
Processing Information
The description of the slides reflects the subject matter of each of the original containers. The slides were rehoused in five photographic slide boxes. The slides were originally held in wooden boxes, plastic bags, and small cardboard slides boxes. The five boxes in which the slides are now held correspond to their original containers in this way: Box 1: slides from wooden boxes 1-3. Box 2: slides from wooden boxes 4-5. Box 3: slides from wooden boxes 6-7 and slides from bag 8. Box 4: slides from bags 9-12. Box 5: slides from small cardboard slides boxes 1-11. There are 9 photographic negatives that are housed in one small negatives box. Their original containers are wooden box 1; and small cardboard slides boxes 1-5, 8, 9, and 11.
