Sun Shipbuilding, 1939-2008, bulk: 1994-2003

This series consists of oral history interviews with 21 shipbuilders (24 audio cassette tapes), oral history interview transcripts with 17 people, an unpublished book manuscript draft about the Sun Shipbuilding Dry Dock Company (1916-1942), correspondence with multiple research facilities, shipbuilders, and shipbuilders' family members, research notes, photographs, and publications.

Born digital files are included for the book manuscript, as well as digital photographs, and scans of court dockets and transcripts relating to a riot at Sun Ship Dry Dock Company (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs Edwin Abrams, Henry McCrary, Willis Pinkett). For access to digital content please consult with the Curator.

This collection is open to the public and must be used in the Special Collections reading room. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection.

This collection contains restricted material. Please check the series and folder listings for additional information. Materials of a sensitive nature, such as those containing personally identifiable information, are restricted for 75 years or the life of the individual and will be removed by special collections staff. Arrangement

The audio tapes and transcripts were arranged alphabetically and then chronologically. Other material was arranged into informal groups, and then chronologically: book manuscript drafts, correspondence with multiple research facilities, shipbuilders, and shipbuilders' family members, research notes, photographs, and publications.
